P5: Framing

Reflection:
This project was one of the most difficult, because finding subjects which are framed naturally was a struggle for me. In some cases, I was just able to ask friends to pose in a certain location. In others, I just needed to search out framed objects. Some photos I took previously also worked nicely with this project. I did like this project becuase it challenged me and I got a couple good shots out of it.

P4: Space

I have found recently that taking many photos of a subject has lead to some nicer photos. Previously, I would just take a couple photos of something that I found interesting. I would get some nice photos, but I ended up with quite a few where I wished I could go back and take them again but I had missed the opportunity. By taking a large amount of photos of one subject, I would generally have at least a few high quality images to choose from of each subject.

Smooth Background

Textured Background

Reflection:

I feel that my photos from this project turned out alright. I would have liked to bring an object the looks different from different angles, to allow more variety seeing as many of my pictures looked the same for this little vase I brought. I found it useful to have the time to mess around with my settings a bit and feel more adjusted to the camera. Taking a large amount of photos helped me have some good ones to choose from, as many of them were blurry and so I needed as many clear ones as possible. I enjoyed using the smooth background as opposed to the crinkled one, I found it to be more visually pleasing.

P2: Principles

Pattern

Unity and Variety

Contrast

Emphasis

Movement

Rhythm

Reflection:

I found it was easier to simply find the principles as oppose to finding the elements in order to find the principles. I found motion to be the most difficult principle to capture, as I did not have much time to adjust my camera and take the picture before the moment had ended. I found the easiest to be emphasis, as having a 50mm lens makes for nice close-up images.

Reflection

I found that I enjoyed taking photos on the beach in Carlsbad the most. There was a lot of pretty scenery to capture, and a variety of subject matter. I did not enjoy taking photos in and around the school quite as much. My pictures tended to come out more dull and they all looked the same, especially since it was cloudy during most of my time during class to take pictures. Looking for specific elements did improve my photos, as before I would simply take pictures of something that looked interesting without much thought being put into it, which would make my pictures look more random. I found Lightroom to be pretty easy to pick up, and I like how simple the user interface is once you learn the basics.
